When preparing your speech for AMAM 2019, please consider the following recommendations:
- Slides:
- Use large fonts: we recommend to have at least 24 pt for the main text. Smaller text is difficult to read from far away.
- Prefer photos, drawings, videos or short equations over text.
- Limit the amount of text on your slides, as listeners would read it and be distracted from what you are saying.
- Timing:
- Rehearse beforehand to make sure that your speech fits in the allocated time (22—25 minutes for invited speakers, 45 minutes for keynote speakers). The conference program is packed, therefore it is essential to respect the schedule.
- A timing device will be present in the conference auditorium, so you can check at any time how much time is left.
- Have a maximum of one to two slides per minute. It is hard for listeners to follow a faster pace.
- Be prepared for the unexpected:
- Bring along the required display adapter for your laptop. We can only guarantee VGA and HDMI cables to connect to the projector.
- Test your slideshow on the projector before the speech as early as early as possible. We are happy to assist you: contact us at reception desk, by e-mail or by phone (+41 21 693 30 06).
- Make sure that you have an offline copy of your presentation if you use an online presentation tool (e.g., Prezi or Google Slides). Network outages are rare, but cannot be excluded.
- Have a backup copy of your presentation (e.g. on a USB memory or external HD) in case your laptop fails or has trouble at the wrong moment.
